Two Approvals In, Three Still Waiting: The Back Half of October's FDA Calendar

Roche's Enspryng and Viatris/Opus Genetics' Ryzumvi are approved. GSK, Sun Pharma and INOVIO still await FDA decisions, with goal dates from Oct 26 to Oct 30.

Five goal dates, sixteen days, the whole market-cap spectrum: Roche and GSK at the top, Viatris in the middle, Opus Genetics and INOVIO down where one FDA letter can matter more than a year of earnings calls. As of October 20, two of the five are done. You don't need a thesis about the sector. You need the calendar and the primary sources.

Everything below is as of October 20, 2026, from company announcements, FDA pages, or SEC filings, linked inline. A goal date is the day the FDA intends to act. It isn't a promise. These two landed a day early. The other three can still move.

What already happened this month

The month, before these five

October was already busy before this window.

Jemperli is a different GSK drug. It does not answer bepirovirsen. The I-DXd withdrawal is the one to remember for INOVIO: the companies pulled an accelerated-approval BLA after FDA discussions concluded the data didn't support it.

Oct 16: Roche, Enspryng approved in thyroid eye disease

Approved, one day after the goal date

Large cap. Roche (SIX: RO, ROP; OTCQX: RHHBY) had a supplemental BLA for Enspryng (satralizumab), already approved for NMOSD, in thyroid eye disease. Priority Review, with a decision expected by October 15 (Roche, June 30, 2026).

On October 16, Roche announced that the FDA has approved Enspryng for adults with thyroid eye disease, calling it the first and only at-home subcutaneous option, given every four weeks in maintenance after training.

The data question going in was a split. Two identically designed Phase III trials, SatraGO-1 and SatraGO-2, enrolled 258 patients across 19 countries. The primary endpoint was the share of patients with active, moderate-to-severe TED who had at least a 2 mm reduction in proptosis at week 24.

In the October 16 release, Roche said SatraGO-1 missed that endpoint. SatraGO-2 hit it: 52.9% on Enspryng versus 23.4% on placebo in active TED, with diplopia reduced in 60.7% versus 25.8%. No new safety signals. The June 30 release had put SatraGO-1 at 49% versus 31%, numerically better and not statistically significant. The FDA approved it on that record. For Roche this is a label expansion. For anybody watching TED, the at-home option is now an approval.

Oct 16: Viatris and Opus Genetics, Ryzumvi approved for presbyopia

Approved, the day before a Saturday goal date

Mid cap and small cap, same application. Viatris (Nasdaq: VTRS) held the sNDA for phentolamine ophthalmic solution 0.75%, goal date October 17 (Viatris, Feb 25, 2026). Opus Genetics (Nasdaq: IRD) announced the same acceptance the same day (Opus Genetics, Feb 25, 2026). October 17 was a Saturday. They announced on Friday.

On October 16, Opus said the FDA had approved the sNDA for presbyopia in adults (Opus Genetics). Viatris said the same day that Ryzumvi, already sold to reverse pharmacologically induced pupil dilation, is now also approved for presbyopia (Viatris).

Same drug, new line on the label. Opus says presbyopia affects about 90% of U.S. adults over 45. If you are reading this with the phone at arm's length, that is the condition. VEGA-2 and VEGA-3 met their primary and all key secondary endpoints, with no treatment-related serious adverse events. The most common ocular reactions in those studies, in more than 5% of subjects, were conjunctival hyperemia (21%) and instillation site irritation (16%).

The economics changed shape on announcement day. The license still gives Viatris exclusive U.S. rights, and Opus said the approval triggers a milestone. Viatris, the same day, said it is exploring a U.S. partner to sell Ryzumvi for presbyopia. Both statements are in the releases. They are not the same sentence. Opus remains a gene therapy company, pipeline led by programs such as OPGx-LCA5, so the phentolamine money flows through that license. Read both before assuming who gets paid.

Oct 26: GSK, bepirovirsen in chronic hepatitis B

Still pending

Large cap, and still the most important scientific decision left. GSK (LSE/NYSE: GSK) has an NDA for bepirovirsen, an antisense oligonucleotide for adults with chronic hepatitis B. Priority Review, Breakthrough Therapy on top of Fast Track, goal date October 26 (GSK Form 6-K, April 28, 2026). I have not found an approval, a complete response, or a new goal date as of October 20.

The word GSK keeps using is functional cure. Standard of care mostly suppresses the virus, often for life. On May 28, 2026, GSK published B-Well 1 and B-Well 2, run in 29 countries in adults with baseline HBsAg at or below 3,000 IU/mL. Six months of bepirovirsen plus standard of care. Functional cure means HBsAg and HBV DNA stay undetectable for at least 24 weeks after all treatment stops.

PopulationBepirovirsenPlacebo plus standard of care
HBsAg at or below 3,000 IU/mL (primary)19% (233 of 1,220)0% (0 of 614)
HBsAg at or below 1,000 IU/mL26% (200 of 768)0% (0 of 393)

GSK said both comparisons were statistically significant in each trial (p<0.001). The effect was larger below 1,000 IU/mL, about 45% of diagnosed cases globally, by GSK's count. That cutoff is the label question. GSK also puts the disease at more than 240 million people worldwide, including 1.7 million in the United States. The slice the label covers is the whole story on the 26th.

Oct 29: Sun Pharma, Ilumya in psoriatic arthritis

Still pending

Large cap, quieter catalyst. Sun Pharma has a supplemental BLA for Ilumya (tildrakizumab), an IL-23 inhibitor approved in the U.S. since 2018 for moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis, in adults with active psoriatic arthritis. Sun said on March 16, 2026 that FDA action was expected by October 29. As of October 20 I have not found a decision. For a company Sun's size, a label expansion on a drug that has been on the market for years won't move the needle the way the other dates can. I'm including it for completeness, not drama.

Oct 30: INOVIO, INO-3107 in recurrent respiratory papillomatosis

Still pending, and still the open question

Small cap, highest drama left. INOVIO (Nasdaq: INO) has a BLA for INO-3107, a DNA immunotherapy for adults with recurrent respiratory papillomatosis, a rare HPV-driven disease where growths keep coming back in the airway. Goal date October 30, Standard review, no advisory committee planned (INOVIO 8-K, Dec 29, 2025).

In the completed Phase 1/2 trial, 81.3% of patients had fewer surgeries in the year after INO-3107 than in the year before, per INOVIO's quarterly report for the period ended June 30, 2026 (10-Q).

The catch is the pathway, and INOVIO disclosed it. The company filed for accelerated approval. In the acceptance letter, the FDA's preliminary conclusion was that INOVIO had not submitted adequate information to justify eligibility. INOVIO disagreed, and said it was not planning to switch to the traditional pathway.

The last review update is still the August 12, 2026 release (Exhibit 99.1). Late-cycle review and the scheduled pre-licensure inspections were done. At an informal clinical meeting, INOVIO made its case. The FDA did not discuss the eligibility comment in that meeting, and said feedback on the confirmatory trial design would be forthcoming.

Nothing since has closed it. An 8-K on October 6 only amended the bylaws. It does not mention INO-3107. One reading of August is that the review is late and orderly. The other is that eligibility is still unanswered in public. Both fit the filings. Neither is a fact about October 30, and the I-DXd withdrawal is context, not a prediction.
